RBC Hires Former Wells Fargo Advisor Team In California

RBC Wealth Management has expanded its advisor base in California with a team of hires from Wells Fargo Advisors, the brokerage unit owned by San Francisco, CA-based Wells Fargo, Reuters reports.

Tim Bockhold and Bob Voorhees, senior vice president and first vice president respectively, previously managed over $200 million in client assets with their team at Wells. According to the report, at RBC they operate from the office in Newport Beach and are joined by client associates Maureen Ortiz and Kathleen Carroll.

The firm could not be contacted in time before publication. 

The Newport Beach office now has 14 advisors. David Thompson, branch manager, reportedly said he hopes to add “at least five advisors within the next 12 months.”

Previously, Bockhold and Voorhees worked at AG Edwards & Sons, moving to Wells after Wachovia acquired the firm in 2007. 

“The big institution...was not where they felt comfortable,” Thompson is quoted as saying in the report. “They were looking for more of a boutique feel.”

In other recent moves, earlier this month RBC added two financial advisors - formerly of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney - to its Washington, DC, broker force.
